Mission Statement of World Pause Coalition
The uncontrolled growth of artificial intelligence poses unprecedented challenges to global security and peace as well as the risk destroying the economic and social fabric of our world. While recognizing the potential for good, the World Pause Coalition also recognized the grave dangers of uncontrolled proliferation of AI technology. The mission of the World Pause Coalition is to educate people on the dangers of AI and secondly to educate people on the benefits of International AI Control and Non-Proliferation. The World Pause Coalition will also engage in research on the dangers of AI proliferation conduct seminars and other gatherings to foster public understanding of the opportunities and dangers presented by rapid AI advances.
Articles of Incorporation of World Pause Coalition
Article I: Name
The name of the corporation shall be World Pause Coalition.
Article II: Non-Profit Nature
World Pause Coalition is organized exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
Article III: Duration
The duration of the corporation shall be perpetual.
Article IV: Mission
The mission of the World Pause Coalition is to educate people on the issues relating to AI and secondly to educate people on the benefits of international AI control and non-proliferation. The World Pause Coalition will also engage in research on AI proliferation and conduct seminars and other gatherings to foster public understanding of the opportunities and dangers presented by rapid AI advances.
Article V: Principal Office
The principal office of the corporation for the transaction of its business is located at 20322 Shepherds Drive, Exeter, MO 65647 USA
Article VI: Membership
World Pause Coalition shall have no members. The management of the affairs of the corporation shall be vested in a Board of Directors, as defined in the Bylaws.
Article VII: Board of Directors
The Board of Directors shall be responsible for the overall policy and direction of the corporation and delegate responsibility for day-to-day operations to the staff and committees. The number, term, and qualifications of directors shall be defined in the Bylaws.
Article VIII: Officers
The officers of the corporation shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and such other officers as may be elected in accordance with the Bylaws of the corporation.
Article IX: Non-Discrimination
The World Pause Coalition shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
Article X: Amendments
These Articles of Incorporation may be amended by a majority vote of the Board of Directors then in office, subject to compliance with state and federal law.
Article XI: Dissolution
Upon the dissolution of the corporation, assets shall be distributed for one or more exempt purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code, or shall be distributed to the federal government, or to a state or local government, for a public purpose.
Article XII: Compensation
The World Pause Coalition (WPC) will depend totally on donated labor. No officer or board member may receive any form of compensation for any activity connected with the WPC including any travel or personal expenses incurred as a result of their efforts for the WPC. All other employees must be unpaid volunteers who like wise will not receive compensation for any personal or travel expense they incur as part of their work for the WPC.
